This position serves as a liaison between key Payroll and HR clients, production control and technical support groups at UCSD and UCOP. The analyst must have a basic working knowledge of UC Payroll and related processes, interfaces, and familiarity with the involved organizations’ responsibilities to ensure that appropriate individuals are notified in order to address scheduling issues. This includes the detailed coordination of Wage Agreement and Wage Merit processing events. Development and support is performed on high-end server systems using modern relational and data warehouse DBMS software.

Duties:

  • Assist clients and ACT staff with the implementation of new or modified applications, the development of documentation to support the production environment, and the development of the production schedule.
  • Responsible for researching, recommending, and potentially implementing DB2 UDB tools and methodologies to support a highly diverse Data Warehouse environment.
  • Detailed responsibility for one or more Data Warehouse sub-systems.
  • Give direction and assistance to other personnel on assigned projects, mentor staff, assist campus departments with their Data Warehouse-based information needs, as well as provide presentations and support for production systems.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or B.A. degree or equivalent work experience which includes three or more years in Payroll/HR business and technical coordination and data warehousing project experience.
  • Proven project leadership ability and experience in directing other staff in the development and implementation of complex computerized databases. Minimum of three years of data warehousing project experience.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects in a team environment. Ability to build consensus and constructively facilitate conflicts and problems.
  • Proficient in business analysis, event modeling, data modeling, and logical and physical database design. Intermediate knowledge of SQL and DB2UDB.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build consensus among a wide variety and range of partners.
